SkillsFuture is a national program in Singapore that helps people develop their skills and knowledge throughout life. However, not everyone has taken advantage of this scheme, and that means they are missing out on a great opportunity. Fret not because in this article, we'll give you a step-by-step guide on how to use these free government subsidies to improve your skills and knowledge.
SkillsFuture credits are like a special type of money from the government. They can be used to pay for courses and training programs that help you learn new things. The government gives these credits to Singaporeans so they can keep growing and developing their abilities throughout their lives.
Under this scheme, all Singaporeans aged 25 years and above received an opening credit of $500, which can be used to deepen your existing skills, or to pick up new skills outside of your current expertise. These credits do not expire. A one-time top-up of $500 was provided to those aged 25 and above in 2020. This top-up will expire at the end of 2025.
In 2020, a one-time top-up of $500 was also provided to those aged between 40-60 years (inclusive) back in 2020. Similarly, these credits do not expire.
From 1 May 2024, Singaporeans aged 40 years and above will be receiving a credit top up of $4,000 to pursue a substantive skills reboot. You’d be happy to know that these credits will never expire! Do note that any balance from the 2020 top-up will be merged with this new $4,000 top-up.
